Meet Our New Product Owner: JP Pienaar

Innovative, upbeat, plus he’ll make you sing if you’re late to a meeting, meet JP, Karri’s latest joiner and new Product Owner. When asked what excites him most about Karri, JP replies “There are many possibilities and different areas to explore, both with the current offering as well as with what might be added in the future. Oh, and the RGB (80,214,117) green that’s used in the app.”

We sat down with JP to chat to him about the Karri vision, the things that get him up in the morning and what we can expect in the future…

Why did you choose Karri?

The Karri app already adds so much value to the parents, teachers and bursars who use it, but there are still so many more possibilities that can be explored. Every day there are new suggestions or ideas for what could be included in the app and it’s great to be around this energy. Working on something that saves people time (among other things), is what really excites me.

As our new Product Owner, what big changes can we expect for Karri?

With this large number of possibilities for the app comes a great need to make sure that we work on the right things at the right time, for the right reasons. The big changes will centre around helping a very passionate team to make decisions on the features to be added/improved within the app.

Where do you see Karri in 5 years time?

I see us being very well established internationally. I see Karri as a household name and dominating this part of the app space. I see us wondering how we ever survived in a time before Karri. Mostly I see us continuing to ask… what is next?

Enough about Karri, name a few of your favourite things…

Pabst Blue Ribbon, Bill Belichick, the Waves Blue face CLA-76 compressor, Clark Little, Tim Ferris podcasts, the Sam Harris Waking Up app
